Artur Zembowicz, M.D., Ph.D.

    Dr. Artur Zembowicz, M.D., Ph.D., is the Principal Consultant and Founder of and

    He is a Professor of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Tufts Medical School and a Senior Dermatopathology Consultant at Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA.

    He received his M.D. and Ph.D. (Pharmacology) degrees from Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Cracow, Poland.  His basic research involved inflammation and vascular biology and included training in the laboratory of Sir John R. Vane, FRS, a Nobel Prize Laureate, in London, UK.  He trained in Anatomic Pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.  At the Brigham, he studied dermatopathology with Dr. Raymond Barnhill and Dr. Phillip McKee.  Upon completion of the Harvard Dermatopathology Fellowship in 1999, he joined Dr. Martin C. Mihm’s consultation practice.  Between 2000 and 2007, he served as an Attending Physician in Dermatopathology Head and Neck Pathology (with Dr. Ben Z. Pilch, M.D.) and Ophthalmic Pathology (with Dr. Thaddeus Dryja, M.D. and Frederic Jacobiec, M.D.) Services at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston.  He is also a former Director of the Harvard Dermatopathology Update CME Course.

    Dr. Zembowicz’ research contributions include papers on endothelial biology, melanocytic tumors, adnexal tumors, and inflammation.

    His wife, Margaret, is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA.  They have 2 sons; Filip, (age 26), is a recent Harvard College graduate and Google alumnus who works for a NYC start-up and Thomas, (age 18) is a senior at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA who is heading to Yale College in the fall.
