A 48-year-old woman with a long history of dry, itchy patches on the arms and back of the elbows

    The patient is a 48-year-old white woman with a long history of dry, itchy patches on the arms and back of the elbows. These lesions were responsive to topical steroids and UV-B. Recently, she developed a follicular rash on the left anterior thigh that was not responsive to topical steroids. A 4-mm punch skin biopsy was performed.
