Subungual nodule in a 12 year old boy

The patient is a 12 year old boy and he had a subungual nodule, referred to by the pediatric surgeon as "fibroma, right third distal toe". Out of curiosity I got the paper chart to see how this was documented. The pediatrician refered to it as a "tumor" that was lifting up the toenail and that had the appearance of a "subungual fibroma". The pediatric surgeon agreed with him that it was a "subungual fibroma" and said that "it is not an uncommon lesion" and that "it has a fairly characteristic appearance".
