Dr. May Chan's Conference Page

    Dr. May Chan obtained her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and spent an additional year at the National Institutes of Health as a Howard Hughes Research Scholar. After graduation she received residency training in Anatomic Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in Boston. She then went on to complete a Dermatopathology fellowship at Harvard. She joined the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in Pathology and Dermatology in 2011, and is currently an Associate Professor.

    Dr. Chan is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Dermatopathology. In addition to her primary role as a dermatopathologist, Dr. Chan retains her interest in surgical pathology including interpretation of intraoperative frozen sections. Dr. Chan's research interests mainly lie in the areas of melanocytic lesions and inflammatory skin conditions. She is the author/co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications, and has co-directed multiple short courses at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meetings.
