Clinical Features:
- Peak incidence in children and young adults; female predominance
- Annular papules, primarily on the dorsal surfaces of the extremities
Histologic Features:
- Fully developed lesions show dermal palisading granulomas surrounding degenerated collagen ("necrobiosis") and mucin.
- Early lesions ("interstitial granuloma annulare") lack well-developed granulomas and instead show groups of macrophages dissecting between dermal collagen fibers.
