Granulomas in immunodefficiency disorder

Chronic granulomatous disease:

Clinical Features:

  • Group of immune deficiency diseases caused by defects in the neutrophilic oxidative burst
  • Most commonly X-linked recessive

Histologic Features:

  • When cutaneous granulomas are present in chronic granulomatous disease, they may or may not show caseation.
  • Granulomas may not be linked to an identifiable trigger, or may secondary to an infectious agent or foreign bodies.
