Lichen planus atrophicus

Also known as: atrophic lichen planus, resolving lichen planus

Clinical Features:

  • Represents the resolving phase of lichen planus.

Histologic Features:

  • As lesions of lichen planus resolve, acanthosis subsides and the epidermis becomes flattened, while hyperkeratosis persists.
  • The lichenoid dermal infiltrate often becomes less pronounced.
  • Focal dermal scarring may occur.
