Clinical Features:
- Pigmented macule, present at birth
- Usually in the lumbosacral area
- Most common in darker skinned races
- Most spontaneously regress by age 3 or 4
Histologic Features:
- Widely spaced dendritic melanocytes between collagen bundles in the lower reticular dermis
- The collagen is unaltered, in contrast to blue nevus, in which the dermis is fibrotic.
