Description:
This 10th annual conference is intended as a practical overview for pathologists who encounter gastrointestinal and liver specimens in daily practice. Interpretation of biopsies of the upper GI tract mucosa and the liver will be addressed, as well as recent advances in pancreatic pathology. Case presentations will be featured to emphasize presented concepts. Participants should come away with a better understanding of interpretation of mucosal and liver biopsies, pancreatic pathology, current concepts in staging, and the application of modern techniques to gastrointestinal disorders.
Objectives:
After attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:
• Recognize common pitfalls in the evaluation of esophageal biopsies
• Recognize commonly used molecular pathology tools for diagnosis and prognosis in GI pathology
• Present a logical approach towards the diagnosis of pancreatic endocrine tumors
• Summarize the basic concepts and histological changes associated with chronic hepatitis
• Recognize the importance of accurate classification of colon polyps and anal lesions.
