The 14th World Congress of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy - IFCPC 2011 will take place between 4 and 7 July 2011 at Windsor Barra Hotel, Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.
After 25 years, once again Brazil will host the IFCPC Congress. In 1987, over 700 doctors of which many were foreign, attended the Congress in São Paulo organized by Professor Salvatore. At that time, HPV became part of the daily activities.
Since then, the physicians witnessed a great evolution. The colposcopic examination is no longer only the unique method for early diagnosis of cervical cancer and its premalignant lesions. The examination became a dynamic tool in the evaluation of epithelia lining the lower genital tract and also of its neighboring areas. The evolution has added the role of the physician colposcopist the need to approach infectious, degenerative and atrophic and neoplastic, benign and malignant diseases in the epithelia that cover the vagina and vulva. This is the modern colposcopy.
In addition, the scientific research has increased the care, the need for knowledge and continuing education of the physicians.
The goals of the scientific committee are the professional growth and medical update. Therefore, the organisers of the congress have prepared a broad and high quality program, which includes conferences, symposia, round tables, courses, interactive debates and case studies sessions. Renowned local and foreign professors have already confirm their presence and will be together to discuss updated and relevant themes.
