7th German – Spanish Pathology Meeting

September 16th - 19th, 2010
VALENCIA, SPAIN.

INVITATION

The Spanish Society of Anatomic Pathology and the Spanish Division of the IAP has the pleasure of inviting the German Society of Pathology and German Division of the IAP to their seventh joint meeting, that will take place in the town of Valencia from 16th to
19th September 2010.

Since 1977 our societies have met regularly in both Spain and Germany, fomenting a common interest in the development of pathology in both countries based on the continued exchange of members of both societies and departments of the two countries.
For more than 20 years these connections have produced numerous scientific exchanges, as well as projects of cooperation between both countries, independently of the active participation in European and International groups such as the European Society of Pathology and the International Academy of Pathology and its national divisions. This cooperation should be maintained and strengthened in the future.

In a globalized world it is more important than ever to join and unite forces to maintain anatomic pathology at the utmost level in medicine and biomedical investigation. The aim of this new meeting, the 7th to take place, is to enhance the prestige of the speciality in our two countries, opening up possibilities of integration and exchange among pathologists and laboratories in the context of the European Union, which today constitutes the primary motor for the future development of biomedical research.

We would like to give special mention to those who have organized similar events on previous occasions and who in some way constitute the history of fellowship and brotherhood existing between both countries. We specifically refer to Prof. Agustín Bullón
(Lloret de Mar, 1976), Prof. Karl Lennert (Kiel, 1980), Prof. Francisco Martínez Tello (Madrid, 1984), Prof. W. Toennes (Mainz, 1988), Prof. Juan Domingo Toledo (San Sebastián, 1990), and Prof. Ude Löhrs (München, 1995).

Since the latest meeting, members of these societies have, on several occasions, discussed the convenience of a new conference, the organization of which for reason of alternation corresponds this time to Spain. The favorable reception on the part of the presidents of the four organizations, as well as by the president of the „Colegio de Medicos“ (Professional Medical Association) of Valencia, makes it possible to renew these meetings in the incomparable surroundings of the host town, accredited with a long international cultural and scientific history.

Those of us who have been fortunate enough to follow these events in the past, understand that the cultural exchange as well as the scientific advances gained through these encounters provide important additional value to the field of European pathology, and should be sustained in the future by the young generations of pathologists in both countries.

Baring this in mind, we cordially invite you to participate in the 7th German-Spanish Pathology Meeting.

As in the past, with the aim of facilitating this exchange, language of the meeting will be English.

Welcome to Valencia and to Spain.

Prof. Antonio Llombart Bosch,
President of the Organizing Committee

Prof Aurelio Ariza,
President of the Spanish Society of Pathology and IAP
