The American Society of Cytopathology presents an Annual Scientific Meeting consisting of scientific lectures, cytology workshops, special courses, diagnostic seminars, poster and platform sessions, panel luncheon seminars, video microscopy tutorials, roundtable discussions, Presidents' Rounds, and technical exhibits. The Meeting is available to and attended by pathologists, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, students, and other members of related medical and scientific fields.

Dedicated to the diagnosis of cancer and other related diseases through cytologic analyses and adjunctive techniques, the American Society of Cytopathology's educational objectives for the 59th Annual Scientific Meeting are:

  • Update cytopathologists and cytotechnologists on the current practice of cytopathology and review latest techniques and updated disease classifications to achieve better diagnostic accuracy
  • Encourage and promote greater knowledge of cytopathology to set the highest standards for quality patient care
  • Foster research in the early diagnosis and effective treatment of human cancer and other diseases
  • Provide a forum for advocacy on behalf of cytopathologists and their patients
