New models of medical practice are evolving with increasing attention to the molecular pathology of diseases. The introduction of molecular testing into the clinical laboratories has increased our ability to provide novel types of information to health care providers. This course will provide an overview of techniques and instrumentation used in molecular testing. Expert updates regarding new clinical applications will be provided in the areas of hematopathology, infectious diseases, medical genetics, and solid tumors. The speakers of each session will highlight recent advances and focus on new clinical applications. Case presentations and panel discussions will be used to reinforce concepts. Special emphasis will be placed on molecular testing applications in anatomic pathology. Participants will receive a specifically designed syllabus to complement the material presented.
