 It is our pleasure to welcome you all to the Christian Medical College, Vellore for this update on the pathology of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The Christian Medical College, Vellore was founded in 1900 by Dr Ida Scudder, an American missionary, in response to a divine calling through an experience she had while caring for her ailing mother on a visit to India. What started as a one bedded clinic has grown into a 2500 bedded multispecialty tertiary care teaching hospital. The pathology department of Christian Medical College has been at the forefront of pathology in India almost since inception and still continues to be one of India's major referral centres for diagnostic pathology. Dr E W Gault became the first Professor of Pathology in CMC in 1944. Expansion of the department in fifties was greatly facilitated by money provided from Norman trust Australia and in 1959 the department was renamed Norman Institute of pathology.
