The Australasian Mortality Data Interest Group is comprised of interested parties who have an involvement in the use and/or collection of mortality data within Australasia. AMDIG's overall function is to facilitate information sharing relating to the collection, collation, coding, dissemination and analysis of cause of death data.
The Australasian Mortality Data Interest Group encourages you to participate in their upcoming workshop for 2010.
Hosted by the National Coroners Information System (NCIS) Unit and the Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University in Melbourne, this workshop will provide a unique forum for two days of discussion and networking about current issues surrounding mortality data within the Australasian region.
Themes
Recognised keynote speakers will present on current issues pertaining to the themes of the workshop. Discussions are likely to cover:
» Suicide - Developments surrounding the identification and reporting of suicide
» Drugs and Alcohol - Issues surrounding the identification and/or interpretation of drug and alcohol involvement in a mortality context
» Methods, Data Sources and International Perspectives - New developments; administrative data sets and data linkage potential; other methodological developments
» Death Investigation Processes - The various investigation processes that surround a death which can impact on mortality data (such as coronial findings, forensic pathology, and death review panels)

» Epidemiologists within the health, morbidity or mortality areas
» Researchers or policy makers who use mortality data
» Members of death review panels
» Agencies who are responsible for mortality data collections and/or distribution
