Dear ODS Members,
Our Annual Meeting is coming up soon in beautiful, guaranteed-to-be sunny, Sunriver, Oregon. Attached you will find the brochure with all pertinent details. Mark your calendar for August 27-29, 2010.
This year promises to be especially exciting, with the addition of the Friday afternoon Dermatologic Surgery and Dermatopathology Mini-Symposia. Designed for the practitioner who reads or reviews his or her own slides, the pathology portion will feature Tim McCalmont from UCSF, along with our own Curtis Thompson and Kevin White, instructing us how to approach and conquer three important and common dermatopathology quagmires. The surgery portion, anchored by dermatologic surgeons Uma Paniker, Erin Allen and Ken Lee, is geared specifically at all of us non-Mohs surgeons. They will explain critical anatomy, common pitfalls, and special techniques and tools for addressing excisions in specific anatomic areas.
The Saturday and Sunday sessions feature cutting edge discussions of timely issues by a world-class group of educators. Tim McCalmont will delve more deeply into approaching the most common adnexal neoplasms. The always-entertaining Ted Rosen will provide critical reviews of resistant infections and dermatologic conditions in and around the eye. Dirk Elston will bring his considerable experience to bear when he discusses skin signs of systemic diseases and life-threatening dermatoses. Steve 'he-wrote-the-book' Wolverton will lecture on dermatologic drug controversies, and lessons learned from black box warnings. And Andrea Willey will update us on what's new in photodynamic therapy. As usual, there will be lots of opportunities for direct interaction with the faculty.
Added to this is the best meeting (and family-friendly) venue in the Northwest. Sunriver Resort features three golf courses, three swimming pools, miles of bike trails, hiking, fishing, rafting and canoeing on the Deschutes, Fort Funnigan for kids, a nature center, horseback riding, an observatory, and much more. (Contact them at www.sunriver-resort.com for more information). ODS is committed to a room block for this meeting - PLEASE make your lodging reservations quickly-the room block ends July 10th. See the Registration Form for all the details!
We hope to see you all in Sunriver. We promise lots of fun, great food, perfect weather, and we will keep the bar open late. And remember - you can write it off.
All the best,
BERT
