On behalf of the Organizing Committee we are proud to announce the scientific programme and call for abstracts for the INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF POSTHARVEST PATHOLOGY that will be held in Lleida (Catalonia, Spain) from 11th to 14th of April 2011.

We have prepared a stimulating scientific programme with plenary sessions, oral and posters presentations, a round table discussion and thematic meetings. Topics included are: Host-pathogen-environment interactions; Etiology and epidemiology; Effect of pre-harvest treatments on post-harvest disease control; Molecular tools applied to postharvest pathology studies; Chemical and alternative disease control strategies; Production and formulation of biocontrol agents.

During the final day of the congress we expect to facilitate a debate and discussions between researchers and industry stake holders. Thus the plenary session on this day will be about better exploitation of the research-industry interface and their relationships to enhance the translation of research into commercial products. The scientific presentations will be focused on new control systems which are close to commercial validation. Finally, there will be a round table discussion session where the present and future vision for the science will be discussed.

Scientists, professionals and business representatives with an interest in Postharvest Pathology are welcome to attend and contribute their new results and innovative approaches to post-harvest pathology at this International Symposium. We hope that the congress will promote international cooperation and collaboration among Postharvest Pathology research groups world wide.
