    Position Summary:
    The Pathologist should have a passion for molecular pathology and a keen interest in bridging tradition surgical pathology with molecular pathology. The Pathologist will play a key role in providing Pathology support to the Development Organization in the development of new molecular assays for cancer patients. In addition, they will provide critical surgical pathology expertise in the daily operations of the Commercial Laboratory by reviewing breast and colon carcinomas.

    Responsibilities / Duties:
    Providing highest quality pathology professional services for the Development Organization, including interactions across the GHI matrix and with collaborating pathologists, oncologists, and surgeons
    ● Participating on Development project team(s)
    ● Assisting in all aspects of study protocol development, writing, and review
    ● Assisting in negotiations with collaborators, particularly with collaborating pathologists
    ● Assisting in data review and report creation
    ● Assisting in or directing abstract submission, presentations & publications
    ● Providing H&E slide review for key study variables
    ● Developing professional relationships with pathology key opinion leaders

    ● Support of Genomic Health Medical Affairs with public speaking on behalf of Genomic Health Development and Clinical Laboratory

    ● Providing highest quality professional pathology services for Clinical Laboratory Operations including:
         • Providing microscopic review of clinical laboratory H&E slides
         • Reviewing submitted pathology reports and materials
         • Providing consultative services for Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs 

    ● Participating in the submission of pathology abstracts related to the clinical laboratory experience for publication to appropriate meetings which may include: SABCS, ASCO Breast, USCAP, CAP

    ● Assisting in writing pathology manuscripts related to the commercial process for publication 

    Qualifications
    ● M.D. and must be board-certified in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology
    ● CA Medical License eligible
    ● Completion of Surgical Pathology Fellowship
    ● Greater than 2 years of experience in Diagnostic Anatomic Pathology
    ● Strong diagnostic skills in Surgical Pathology 
    ● Strong verbal and written communication skills
         • Highest level interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as a collaborative team member are essential
         • Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed

    ● Capability to build productive cross-functional collaborations both within and external to Genomic Health
    ● Ability to work in a team and build team consensus
    ● Able to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality
