PALMER, ALASKA (USA) is located on the Matanuska River. Our group is currently seeking a part time AP/CP board certified or board eligible pathologist at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center (MSRMC). This is a rare opportunity since we are the only pathology group based in the Matanuska Valley. Independence, good communication skills, and positive interpersonal relations are necessary to fit into our professional workplace. We would like to fill our position by December 2010.
Southeast Alaska Pathology is composed of 1 full time pathologist and 2 part time pathologists, who are available for peer review and consultation. Current annual practice volume in Palmer includes about 3400 surgicals, 360 nongyn cytology cases, 130 peripheral blood smears, 100 frozen sections, and 30 bone marrows (interpretation only). Immunohistochemical studies are available for your review.
Palmer is a small community of about 4500 people but is part of the Matanuska Valley which consists of many small communities which have an estimated total population of about 82,000. MSRMC is a 77 bed facility and serves as the regional hospital hub. The temperature ranges from 50 -80 F during the summer, and temperatures vary greatly during the winter but averages around 5 - 10. Plenty of recreational activities are available with the mountains, abundant forest land, fishing, and Palmer is home of the Alaska State Fair. We are located 10 minutes from Wasilla, 1 hour from Anchorage, 5 hours from Fairbanks, 3 hours from Seward, and 4 1/2 hours from Homer. The international airport (ANC) is located in Anchorage and has direct daily flights to Seattle, San Francisco and Portland.
